Day Trips

Day trips are an effective way for local and international tourists to explore specific regions of our beautiful country and I offer a variety of destinations and activities all within 3 hours drive from Johannesburg. The emphasis is on flexibility and all activities can be adapted to suite your specific needs!

I am comfortable in saying that I am a specialist in day trips and overnight safaris to Pilanesberg National Park. Situated just 2 hours from Johannesburg, Pilanesberg provides what is arguably some of the best game viewing in South Africa. The concentric hills of this extinct volcano are the result of eruptions which took place some 1,200 million years ago and provide the perfect backdrop for viewing general plains game (such as zebra and wildebeest) and the Big 5.

What’s Included?

My private guided day trips to Pilanesberg National Park are fully inclusive of the following:

  • Return transfers from JHB/Pretoria (collection & drop off from one point)
  • All park entry fees
  • My services as a private guide
  • Breakfast (croissants, cheese platter, cold meats, yoghurt-fruit-muesli cups, muffins, tea & coffee)
  • Lunch (Burgers & a beer)
  • Limited refreshments (local beers, still & sparkling waters, a selection of popular soft drinks)
  • A full day of game drives in an air-conditioned VW Kombi
  • I also take photos throughout the day which I will email to you.

As an optional extra, night drives and a buffet lunch can also be arranged.

What do we do during the trip?

The trips are conducted on an exclusive use basis, meaning that your group would be the only people in the vehicle. This allows for a lot of flexibility in departure times etc. Usually we will depart around 04:30 arriving in Pilanesberg at 06:30 (season dependant). We stop for breakfast in the park at a hide which looks over a beautiful lake in the centre of the reserve before continuing on our game drive.

Lunch is usually around 2pm, after which we take a slow drive back towards one of the exit gates, departing around 14:30/15:00, returning to JHB around 17:00/17:30. For some images taken on recent trips, please feel free to have a look at one of our albums on Facebook
